Unknown Threat by Lynn H. Blackburn

March 12, 2021

Unknown Threat (affiliate link) by Lynn H. Blackburn is a Christian romantic suspense novel focused on FBI Agent Faith Malone and Secret Service Agent Luke Powell.

As the book opens Luke and one of his Secret Service Agent friends are wounded by a sniper. As the book progresses more agents are targeted and Faith is tasked with solving the case.

The book is well written and the details about law enforcement and the relationship between different branches seemed credible. I liked the way the author used ordinary activities to highlight the good qualities of her characters. But to me, those characters were a little too good.

That’s not to say they didn’t have issues. Faith did struggle with her faith and the challenges of the case. And Luke was understandably traumatized by his experience which was confounded by the loss of his friends and colleagues. This was interesting, though not enough, in my opinion, for a compelling character arc.

Unknown Threat (affiliate link) was fine otherwise. I thought it was well-written and the external pIot was alright, though not in my opinion super suspenseful. Sadly, however, I just didn’t find the characters especially compelling and didn’t feel invested in their relationship or the case they were investigating.

Please note. I received a review copy of this book at no cost from the publisher.

I feel like this is less a testament to my work et I feel like this is less a testament to my work ethic than an indication of how much time I spend avoiding writing. But it's nice that I got it just as I finished my keeper book cover.
O God, who on this day didst manifest Thine only-b O God, who on this day didst manifest Thine only-begotten Son to the Gentiles by the guidance of a star: graciously grant that we, who know Thee now by faith, may be led even to contemplate the beauty of Thy majesty.
