I watched “The Case for Christ” on Christmas day 2017. There was a lull in the holiday action and I was a relatively new Christian who wanted to connect with the real meaning of the day. So I plugged my earbuds into my Roku remote and watched “The Case For Christ” on Netflix. And I was so glad I did!
This incredible movie tells the true story of former legal editor of the Chicago Tribune and atheist Lee Strobel’s investigation into the historical accuracy of Gospels after his wife, Leslie’s, conversion to Christianity.
While Lee’s reaction to Leslie’s faith is negative, I couldn’t help but admire his search for truth. Traveling to various locations in North America and England he interviews 10 leading Biblical scholars with a fair and open mind.
The information those interviews provided was fascinating but what impressed me most was the character of Leslie. Her example of using Scripture to pray for her husband was truly inspirational and her face when she emerged from the waters of baptism was radiant.
I would highly recommend this movie to everyone, Christian and non-Christian. It well acted and beautifully shot and scripted. And there is enough story and suspense to make the interviews with Bible scholars bearable for the most secular viewer. With luck it just might plant a seed!
