Not that I have already obtained it or have already become perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus. Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. – Philippians 3:12-14
Like my life, this blog is a work in progress or, perhaps, more correctly an ongoing effort. As such, I often find myself correcting course as I pursue my own upward call as best I can.
Recently, I referenced a message our pastor shared at Parker Hill Church in Wilkes-Barre PA. The message was about retirement and stewardship. It inspired me to look at everything I was doing with new eyes. Change was inevitable.
The first change concerned my part-time, partial retirement business model. I looked at my past experience as a nurse (which involved a lot of teaching and counseling) and decided that Life Coaching would be a nice adjunct to the writing and media I have been focusing on. This week I decided to get certified in Life Coaching and chose a program of study and the CEU courses I’d need to reactivate my RN license.
Because I practiced various New Age modalities out of my home office before I became a Christian, a lot of the business structure is already in place. Modifying my website, social media, google listing and home occupation permit wasn’t hard. All I have left to do is reactive my license, take the certification course, register the new business and finish up some remodeling and landscaping. This last bit will be challenging but I’m feeling up to it.
My idea is to do Bible Based Life Coaching, both local and distance, on a part-time basis for a reasonable fee – after training. I’ll be sharing more on that as I progress, of course.
The other change involved my daily routine.
I made a couple of changes the blog to do give myself just a bit of breathing space. A few changes were minor such as the reordered menu. The only real content change is the decision to write my One Year Bible journal entry early in the week instead of on Sundays. This means that I only have one hard deadline for Sunday – the Scripture Sunday podcast – which will make the weekends a bit easier to navigate.
I really appreciate the patience and understanding of my readers and listeners! I can’t promise there won’t be anymore kind of confusing course corrections but I believe that as I pick up speed they will lessen.
I also took some time this week to tweak my routine and reimplemented my old planner system – which I will be sharing soon – because I have a lot to do this summer! Routine after all is something any self respecting Life Coach should be on top of – as is health. Because of this the gym and diet are prominent in the new routine.
It is a lot to do in a single summer. And before I know it, it will be September and I will starting my Journalism and Media Writing course at our local community college. I am aware of what I have committed to but I am pressing on toward the goal in high spirits!
